How to Be More Persuasive Article

The article notes how persuasion is more science than art. You should read it. It has some good points. Does that persuade you to read it? Maybe I haven't read the article enough. lol But seriously it make some valid points. For instance, rewording advertisements to make things appear positive or that they're popular sells more. It'll a little reverse psychology. Some of the suggestions also involved simply understanding human nature. People's indecisiveness and laziest and how to make those things work for you.

What People Are Willing to Spend Money on During the Recession

This report about what Americans are still willing to shell out larger amounts of money for is interesting. I think a lot of what people said they could do without (like cable) has to do with the variety of free mediums that supply the same entertainment/information. With cable, you can watch your favorite tv shows and rent movies online now, and because Internet is for most people a necessity, they can keep Internet while getting rid of cable and not really lose much. I was a little surprised that smartphone sales are still up, but I guess some may consider that almost a necessity because of business or because they can take the place of a variety of devices.

Part-Time Jobs That Pay

Check out the article below about part-time jobs that pay well:

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/life/7-best-part-time-jobs-391805/

A lot can be said for working part-time, especially if you find a job like the ones mentioned in the article. I never liked working full-time. There never seems to be enough time in the day already not to mention adding full-time work to the picture. There's so much more to do in life that if a part-time job is feasible, I'd say go for it. It all goes back to what Ferris said in that you have to stop and look around once and a while or you just might miss it. (I think that's how he put it.??) And not all of the jobs listed in the article are considered really "career" jobs for many people like a receptionist or substitute teacher, but they can sometimes make good money and allow for a flexible schedule. The private tutor job was surprising at sometimes $80 an hour.

Tulsa Native Taylor Hanson said to have joined a "supergroup" band

Yahoo's Music Blogs said today that native Tulsan Taylor Hanson has joined a "supergroup" band called Tinted Windows. I didn't know what a supergroup was, but from what the article describes, it seems like its a group of musicians who used to all be in other well-known bands. The article noted that the term was originally coined in the '60s, so maybe I'm the only one who didn't know what a supergroup was. Anyhow, it's interesting to see what a fellow Oklahoman, particularly a famous Tulsan, is doing these days. Check out who's in the band, Tinted Windows.
